Prototipe Jaringan Akses Internet Dengan Menggabungkan Dua Link Radio Microwave Menggunakan Metode Load Balancing

Masyarakat yang tinggal di pedesaan masih sering menghadapi persoalan atau kendala dalam mengakses informasi melalui internet. Persoalan yang umum mereka hadapi adalah konektivitas penyedia layanan Internet Service Provider (ISP) yang buruk, misalnya jaringan putus dan lambat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membangun sebuah prototipe jaringan akses internet untuk masyarakat yang tinggal di daerah pedesaan menggunakan dua buah link radio microwave berbasis teknologi Ethernet over Plesiochronous Digital Hirarchy (PDH) sebagai backhaul yang terhubung dengan ISP. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengintegrasikan kedua radio link tersebut adalah menggunakan metode load balancing dimana merupakan sebuah fitur yang terdapat pada router mikrotik yang berfungsi menggabungkan trafik internet dari kedua ISP secara bersamaan dan disalurkan ke jaringan lokal yang disediakan untuk akses internet masyarakat. Selain dari pada itu, router load balancing juga berfungsi sebagai sistem proteksi dimana bila salah satu trafik putus yang mungkin disebabkan oleh salah satu link radio yang outage (mati) atau layanan dari ISP yang mati diharapkan trafik masih ada sehingga pengguna masih tetap mendapatkan layanan internet. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian dan pengukuran dengan kecepatan data trafik 1,3 Mbps, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penelitian ini berhasil dalam membangun sebuah prototipe jaringan akses internet yang handal dan stabil bagi masyarakat dalam memperoleh informasi.
